Understanding NDIS
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is Australia’s government-funded national scheme for people living with a disability.
In short, the NDIS offers support to people living with permanent and significant disability in the form of funding and connections to services in the community.
If you’re eligible, you can get an NDIS plan and individual funding to empower you to thrive in your daily life. You get to control the process, decide what services you’d like to use, and what you’d like to achieve with your plan.
You may also be able to get funding for a Support Coordinator who’ll help you get the most out of your NDIS plan.

Who is eligible for NDIS support?
In a nutshell, to be eligible for NDIS support, you need to be considered as having a permanent and significant intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive and/or psychosocial disability.
Here are the official criteria and if you fit some or all of these, you may be eligible for an NDIS support plan:
You’re aged between 7 and 65 years.
You’re an Australian resident living in Australia.
You have a permanent and significant disability.
You need to use special equipment because of this permanent and significant disability.
You need support to complete daily activities and tasks.
The aim of the NDIS is to help people get the support they need to enhance and improve their skills and independence over time wherever possible.
