Travel is a brilliant way to try new things, meet new people and learn about new places.

It also gives you a break from your usual routine and a fresh perspective on things.

We don’t want your disability to keep you from experiencing the joys of travel, so we organise Assisted Getaway group trips to get you going to new places and seeing new faces. And the good thing is that these can often be built into your NDIS plan.

We tailor our trips to the needs and interests of the participants, which means you can get a say in where we go and what we see. Each year, we ask participants where they want to go, and the winning place becomes the destination for our next trip.

Assisted Getaways

We provide a safe, structured and supported way to explore new and familiar places.

Our planned getaways are designed to build your confidence out in the world while giving you the opportunity to meet and make new friends and try new things.

If you’re keen to discover interesting places, see something different, and go on an adventure, we’ve got your travel needs covered.

Here’s a sample itinerary of a previous trip to give you an idea of the fun you’ll have:

2-night Canberra weekend getaway

Assisted Getaways

Day 1:

  • Depart Sydney (pickups available).
  • Travel towards Canberra with a stop in the beautiful, quaint town of Bowral for morning tea.
  • Continue on to the Goulburn Rail and Heritage Museum to explore antique locomotives as well as stop for lunch.
  • On arrival in Canberra, check in at Redbrow Garden, a multi-award-winning country retreat surrounded by an inspiring lakeside garden and wildlife refuge.
  • After a rest, head out to the National Dinosaur Museum to explore prehistoric wonders.
  • Finally, head to dinner at a local restaurant and return to the accommodation to relax and get a good night’s rest.

Day 2:

  • This morning, have a lazy breakfast and a bit of free time.
  • Around noon, head to Vertikal Indoor Snow Sports Australia to get a taste of snow skiing with a ski lesson.
  • Continue on to Questacon National Science and Technology Centre to explore and discover all kinds of inventions, exhibits and creations.
  • This afternoon, you have some free time to enjoy the onsite games room and swap stories with your fellow travellers about your favourite moments of the day.

Day 3:

  • Have a lie in this morning and then enjoy some morning tea before starting the journey back to Sydney.
  • Make a stop on the way in the historic village of Berrima for lunch.
  • We’ll then drop you off at home and you can regale your loved ones with tales of your adventures.

 

Some trips we’ve done and places we’ve visited in the past:

  • P&O Cruise to Tasmania.
  • Cruise to Moreton Island.
  • Gold Coast including visits to Sea World, Warner Bros. Movie World and Wet’n’Wild.
  • Port Macquarie with activities including camel rides on the beach and putt-putt.
  • Hunter Valley to celebrate Christmas in July and do some horse riding.
  • Central Coast trips to Umina and Gorokan.

Upcoming Trip

We’re excited to announce our upcoming trip to NSW South Coast.

We’ll spend 3 nights and 4 days exploring all the area has to offer from dolphin watching cruises and tree-top walks to Jamberoo Action Park and the Kiama Blowhole.

When we’re not out chasing fun and adventure, we will have some downtime at our comfortable accommodation with beautiful sea views.
